Incense burners are know as a gateway to the supernatural space. Burning is a way of energy transform. In the sense of Chinese tradition, burning is actually breaking through the separation of our world and the dead man’s world. People used to burn oblations inside incense burners to people passed away. I reversed the incense burner upside down. The fire is breaking through the separation in the gateway of the two world. The wax is dropped and collected by coconuts. Coconuts is an icon in Hinduism. By this work, I am trying to reveal and create fear to the traditions.
